KERKIS
€ 30.00
Kerkis takes us on a personal photographic journey of intimate everyday moments accompanied by hand-written notes which tell the story of the photographer’s relationship with another man during the summer and fall of 2019, while living together in the foothills of Mount Kerkis on the Aegean island of Samos.
Tender and raw portraits of both men are interspersed with images of domestic life, as well as the flora, fauna and landscape of Samos, to create a semi-chronological account of a tumultuous “summer of love”.
In Dimitris’s own words: “Two protagonists, a bird’s nest and a mountain. A literal and metaphorical journey; a difficult path both bumpy and beautiful. Two men that put their pasts behind them to build something new together. One contributes more, one contributes less. Isn’t that always the case? A spring which eventually becomes autumn. Just like the seasons turn and change for everyone, so too do everyone’s individual journeys. The journey that a relationship takes reminds us of a word that we often forget these days. That word is effort and it’s tough.”
