In a Bright Green Field is the third in a series of collaborative exhibitions highlighting contemporary Greek and Cypriot artists with the DESTE Foundation in partnership with the Benaki Museum. Opening June 11 at the Benaki Museum in Athens, the exhibition features 29 young artists working across a variety of mediums to explore possible futures in which relationships between the natural world and communities can flourish.

The artists included in In a Bright Green Field register the dramatic changes to labor and landscape accelerated by technology, while working to highlight emergent forms of collectivity across both urban and rural life. Their work explores the poetics of infrastructure, pastoral science-fictions, urban animism, and generative collaborations that resonate far beyond the space of the museum. Ranging from lyrical painting and sculpture, experimental documentary film, and communal performance, this exhibition looks at art practices that can serve as prototypes for myriad possible futures.

This collaboration follows the exhibitions The Same River Twice (2019) and The Equilibrists (2016), also organized by the New Museum and DESTE Foundation in partnership with the Benaki Museum.

In a Bright Green Field is curated by Gary Carrion-Murayari, Kraus Family Senior Curator at the New Museum, and will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog published by the DESTE Foundation with new writing by Carrion-Murayari, Athens-based curator and writer Danai Giannoglou, and Nicosia-based curator and writer Ioulita Toumazi.
